Each time you use your debit card to pay, your card number and identity could be compromised.  When you make a purchase with Apple Pay, your actual debit card numbers are never used, instead unique security information specific to your device and a transaction specific security code are used to process your payment. Your actual debit card number is never shared with the merchants.
